NOTE: only Workspace Managers can set the default view. This option is not available for Workspace Guests or Members. Learn more here.

The "Default view" is the initial view everyone sees when they first enter the Workspace. It includes the camera position, the grid plane elevation and layer visibility settings (determining which layers and markups are turned on or off).

How to set the Default view:

  1. Set up the view as you want it to appear for new users, including the camera position and the layer visibility settings.

  2. In the header of the Scene Manager, click on the three-dot menu and select "Set default view".

  3. Set up the view as you want it to appear for new users, including the camera position and the layer visibility settings.

  4. Click on "Confirm" to save the new default view.

Tip: include the grid plane elevation in your default view

Markups created in the 2D environment do not have a 3D elevation value. As a result, they will appear on the 2D grid plane when viewed in 3D.

Therefore, it's best to set the grid plane elevation to match the ground level of the point cloud before saving the default workspace view. This ensures that 2D markups appear at the correct elevation when viewed in 3D.

Quick tip: To find the ground elevation, create a point markup and check its Z-value (elevation).
