Overview
A Workspace can only contain content that is visual and geolocated. Any content that meets these requirements can be added as layers and managed through the Scene Manager.
There are two ways to add content to a Workspace:
Linking folders (synced)
Manually selecting individual items
This article explains how each option works, how syncing behaves, and how to manage or remove content once it’s been added.
Linking Content folders to a Workspace
How it works
When a folder is linked:
All eligible items in that folder are added to the Workspace.
The folder structure is mirrored in the Scene Manager.
Any new items added to the folder later automatically appear in the Workspace; updates are reflected when you start a new session or refresh the Scene Manager or page.
Set up linked content groups
In the Scene Manager, click Add content at the bottom of the panel
The Content page will open inside the Workspace
By default, you’ll be in the Link folder tab
Select the folders you want to link to the Workspace
Enter a name for the content group
Click Done
You can add multiple linked content groups to a Workspace. Each group appears separately in the Scene Manager.
Note:
If you link a subfolder without linking its parent folder, the standard folder icon changes to a stacked folder icon. The parent folder’s name will also appear next to it.
Arrow icons indicate that a content group is synced.
Adding individual items (manual selection)
If you only want to add specific items rather than entire folders, you can use manual selection.
How it works
Only individual items can be selected.
Folders cannot be selected.
Steps
Open Add content from the Scene Manager
At the top of the modal, switch to Manual selection
Select the individual items you want to add
Enter a name for the content group
Click Done
You can add multiple manual content groups. Each group appears separately in the Scene Manager.
Content group essentials
Duplicate content
The same item can be added to a Workspace more than once (for example, in different content groups). This means turning off one content group does not necessarily hide a layer if it’s also enabled (turned on) elsewhere.
Creating folders in the Scene Manager
It is only possible to create folders in the Workspace Content group.
This group is not linked Content, so its structure can be organised freely, unlike synced or manual selection groups.
Folder structure in linked groups
The folder structure shown in the Scene Manager for linked groups is a direct mirror of the structure in Content.
It cannot be changed from within a Workspace
To reorganise folders, make changes in Content instead, learn more.
Content synced from a Common Data Environment (CDE)
When layers are synced from a CDE, they remain linked to the source. Here’s how updates are handled:
Automatic updates
If a synced layer is updated in the CDE (for example, a new version is published), the update will automatically appear in all associated Workspaces the next time the CDE syncs with Sensat.
Removing files
If a file is deleted from the CDE, it will be automatically removed from:
The Content page
Any Workspaces where it has been added
This happens the next time the CDE syncs with Sensat.
Removing content from a Workspace
Linked content
Items within a linked folder cannot be removed individually.
To remove an entire linked content group:
Manual selection
Items added via manual selection can be removed in several ways:
Remove a single item
Remove multiple items
Select the items in the Scene Manager
Click the three‑dot menu at the bottom of the panel
Select Remove from workspace
💡 Tip: Hold SHIFT to quickly select a range of items
Remove an entire content group
Use the same three‑dot menu options as above
Editing a content group
To edit a content group:
Permissions
Only Workspace members and Workspace managers can add or remove content from a Workspace.
