Below is a list of the functionality updates added to the Sensat platform in 2023, including both new features and improvements.

DXFs across both environment

Release date: Dec 11, 2023

Newly uploaded DXFs now display in both the 2D and 3D environments, whereas previously they were treated as 2D-only files.

CRS unification

Release date: Dec 5, 2023

All data is now displayed in Sensat using a unified coordinate system, Sensat-mercator. While we still support specific project Coordinate Reference Systems (CRSs), we transform the incoming data into Sensat-mercator for user-facing output. This work is the foundation to us being able to visualise all data types (both 2D and 3D) together in one scene.

.RVT, .NWD and .FBX support

Release date: Dec 5, 2023

We now support three new 3D mesh formats: .RVT (Revit), .NWD (Navisworks) and .FBX.

Solids and surfaces support for .DWGs

Release date: Dec 5, 2023

Solids and surfaces are now rendered for.DWGs, where previously they were wireframes only.

Hoops SDK implementation

Release date: Dec 5, 2023

We have upgraded our CAD processing pipeline to utilise Hoops SDK, for improved performance and reliability.

Comments removed from presentation mode

Release date: Nov 27, 2023

Comment icons are no longer displayed whilst in presentation mode.

Filtering improvements

Release date: Sept 4, 2023

We redesigned the filtering and sort drop-down menus:

  • When a filter is applied, a new filter 'pill' is created to display the active filters.

  • The filter and sort options have been integrated into the search bar for better accessibility.

  • We have added a 'Clear all filters' button to simplify removing all applied filters at once.

Multi-select improvements

Release date: Aug 3, 2023

  • Multi-select checkboxes are now always available, eliminating the need to switch modes.

  • Clicking on an item or using the checkboxes marks it as selected, with shift and ctrl keys facilitating easier selection.

  • To streamline the process, the 'rename' functionality has been moved to the three-dot menu.

Release date: Aug 3, 2023

The Oracle Aconex integration allows you to connect your Common Data Environment to Sensat to automatically access files so they can be visualised together seamlessly with all your other project data.

JULY 2023

Release date: July 17, 2023

This update to our cut-and-fill tool allows you to specify the elevation of cut-and-fill (volumetric) markups. This functionality is particularly useful for designs that specify the exact foundation levels, helping to accurately determine the amount of earth that needs to be removed or added to reach the desired elevation.

Release date: Jul 13, 2023

Introducing the ability to create subfolders in the Layer Manager, up to 20 levels deep.

JUNE 2023

Syncing updates for viewpoints

Release date: June 15, 2023

We have updated the CDE integrations to ensure that new file versions properly replace the old ones, rather than than acting like the old files were deleted. As a result, models in viewpoints will no longer disappear when a new version is uploaded; instead, the existing viewpoints will automatically display the updated information.

MAY 2023

Release date: May 16, 2023

The Bentley Projectwise integration allows you to connect your Common Data Environment to Sensat to automatically access files so they can be visualised together seamlessly with all your other project data.

Drag and drop multiple items

Release date: May 16, 2023

You can now drag and drop multiple items (uploads or markups) in the Layer Manager.

APRIL 2023

Move multiple uploads

Release date: Apr 24, 2023

You can now use the ‘move to’ option on a selection of uploads, as well as individual uploads.

Create an empty folder

Release date: Apr 14, 2023

You can now create an empty folder by clicking a button at the top of the Layer Manager. For markups, you have the option to create the folder in either the personal or project section.

MARCH 2024

Panoramic photo support

Release date: Mar 23, 2023

We now support panoramic (360-degree) photos on the platform. These photos can be uploaded just like any other image and viewed using the existing photo viewer.

Report projected areas and distances for 3D markups

Release date: Mar 16, 2023

We now report the projected 2D 'horizontal length’ alongside the 3D (point to point) length for all line markups in the 3D environment, and the projected 2D 'horizontal area’ for all zone markups. This in effect allows users to quickly take orthographic horizontal measurements in the 3D environment.

Feature: Viewpoints respect opacity

Release date: Mar 15, 2023

When you create a viewpoint, it will now remember the point cloud opacity settings so when you open a viewpoint the point cloud looks the same as when the viewpoint was created.

Markup Details

Release date: Mar 8, 2023

When you hover over a markup label on the canvas, it will now display related information, including the name, description, attachments, creator, and creation date. This functionality is also available when previewing a viewpoint and in presentation mode.

ACC Integration

Release date: Mar 2, 2023

The Autodesk Construction Cloud integration allows you to connect your Common Data Environment to Sensat to automatically access files so they can be visualised together seamlessly with all your other project data.

Improved zone render

Release date: FEB 23, 2023

We have changed how we render the fill of zone markups, so that we create a continuous 3D surface between the markup vertices. Previously we displayed a 2D ‘best fit plane’ between the vertices (nodes) of the markup.

Compact panel view

Release date: FEB 21, 2023

The Layer Manager UI is now more compact, allowing you to see more items at once.

Line thickness of 2D markups match 3D markups

Release date: FEB 21, 2023

In response to user feedback we've updated the line thickness of 2D markups to match 3D markups.

Improved visibility toggling speed for folders

Release date: FEB 14, 2023

We have significantly improved the speed of turning off folders containing many layers by implementing an optimistic loading approach for toggling.

Release date: FEB 8, 2023

Projects have the choice to decide whether new users see all uploaded layers turned on when they enter the first time (classic view) or just the topographical data (pointclouds and orthos) turned on (reduced view).

Release date: FEB 6, 2023

The labels that accompany markups now come in three sizes depending on how zoomed in your are to the markup. The three sizes are: coloured dot, icon only and icon and text. The aim of this release is to improve clutter in the scene. This feature can be turned off in the user preferences if you want the full label to show e.g. when presenting or taking screenshots.

Date Format Options

Release date: Jan 31, 2023

Users now have 3 options for how they would like to view dates in the platform: dd/mm/yyyy, dd mon yyyy, and mm/dd/yyyy. This option can be found in the user preference settings. The chosen format will appear across the platform. This choice is at the user level. This change means users all over the world can see dates represented how they would expect.

KML + GEOJSON attribute inspector

Release date: Jan 18, 2023

We've introduced a new feature that allows you to click on elements of a KML or GeoJSON file and instantly bring up an inspector window. This window displays attributes pertaining to the selected part of the layer.

3D markup edit state

Release date: Jan 12, 2023

We introduced a specific state in which markups can be edited in the 3D environment. Previously the markups were always ‘editable’ and cones showed at every defined node. Now in order to edit a markup, you need to click on it, then if it’s yours you’ll enter an edit state, the cones will appear and the markup will be ‘editable’. When you exit the edit state the cones disappear again.
