  • You can only reposition files that you own, i.e. that you've uploaded. You cannot reposition someone else's file.

  • If a model is repositioned, it will appear repositioned for everyone in the project.

  • Repositioned models cannot be downloaded as they are no longer georeferenced. To download a file it must be returned to its original position.

  • You can't reposition a file that is synced to a CDE.

How to reposition a model or layer

  • Navigate to the item that you want to reposition in the Uploads tab of the Layer Manager. πŸ’‘Tip: right-click on any layer to quickly find an item in the panel, read how.

  • In the three-dot menu select the option to "Reposition".

πŸ“ Note: this option will only be available if you are the "owner" of the file.

  • When in the "reposition mode" you have the options to:

    1. "Click to place" your model at a specific point;

    2. Enter the coordinates of a new centre point; or

    3. Use the "arrows" to move or rotate your model.

1. How to use "click to place"

  • This option is useful if you have a specific location in mind or if you're moving your model over a large distance (the item being moved doesn't need to be visible in your scene to use this option).

  • Simply click anywhere, either on a pointcloud or another model, to select where you want to place your model (you're choosing the centre point of the model's base).

  • Select "Save" to confirm the new location.

2. How to enter the coordinates of a new centre point.

  • The text fields in the "Centre Point" pop-up window are editable.

  • You can edit the X,Y,Z coordinates or the angle of rotation around the z-axis (Rz) for all "pure 3D" files, but only the z-value for .dxf files.

πŸ“ Note:the coordinates shown here are defined in your project CRS (Coordinate Reference System). Therefore, the units will show in meters if your a using a metric CRS, even if your display units have been set to imperial.

3. How to use the "arrows" to move or rotate your model

How to move a model along the X, Y, Z axes:

  1. Hover over any of the arrows until the selected axis is highlighted in white and a line appears indicating the direction of the axis.

  2. Click and drag to move the model along the selected axis.

How to move a model within the XY plane (with the z-axis fixed):

  1. Hover over the yellow square (located between the X and Y axes) until it is highlighted in white and lines appear representing both the X and Y axes.

  2. Click and drag to move the model within the XY plane.

How to rotate a model (Rx, Ry, Rz)

  1. Hover over the arc representing the plane you want to rotate in until it's highlighted in white and a line appears representing the axis that you're rotating around. In the example below the model is rotating in the XY plane around the Z-axis (Rz). This is the only rotational value reported in the Layer Manager.

  2. Click and drag to rotate the model.

How to return a model to its original position

  • Navigate to the item that you want to reset in the Uploads tab of the Layer Manager.

  • Click on the blue "reset" link, to return the model to it's original position.

πŸ“ Note:Your model will returned to it’s original upload position, not to it’s previous position (if it was moved more than once).

How can I tell if a model/layer has been repositioned?

  • It's icon changes, as shown below - "Option A" has been moved and "Option B" has not.

  • In the Layer Manager, the "Current centre point" and "Original centre point" are reported for moved items only.
