what3words gives every 3m x 3m square in the world a unique combination of three words, making it easy to share and find a precise location. When what3words is enabled for your organisation, you can view the what3words address for point markups and photo markups, and search for a location in your Workspace using a what3words address.
Is what3words available for my organisation?
what3words is switched on per organisation. If you don't see the options described below and would like to use what3words, contact your Account Manager or get in touch with us via the chat.
Viewing what3words on point and photo markups
By default, the location of a point or photo markup is shown as coordinates. You can switch this to show the what3words address instead.
Create or select a point markup or photo markup in your Workspace to open its details.
In the Coordinates section, click Switch to what3words.
The section will now show the what3words address for that location.
To go back to coordinates, click Switch to coordinates.
đĄ Note: coordinates and what3words addresses are never shown at the same time. Use the switch to move between the two.
Searching for a location with what3words
When what3words is enabled, the Search coordinates tool becomes Search location, and lets you search using either coordinates or a what3words address.
Open a workspace.
Click on the search icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the Workspace.
Toggle to what3words.
Enter a what3words address (e.g. ///index.home.raft).
The view will fly to that location and a temporary point will show you the centre of the w3w 3x3 square.
To search by coordinates instead, turn the Search what3words toggle off and enter your coordinates as usual. For more on searching by coordinates, see Navigate to specific coordinates.
