Markup display settings: labels and geometry

Control how markup labels and shapes appear in your scene to reduce clutter.

Written by Holly Tyler

Choose how markups appear in your scene. This is especially useful for busy scenes with lots of markups, or when you're taking screenshots for reports and presentations.

How to change your markup display settings

  1. Click the three-dot menu at the top of the Scene Manager.

  2. Under Markup labels, choose how labels should display.

  3. Under Markup geometry, choose how markup shapes should display.

📌 Note: These settings apply only to the workspace you're currently in.

Label options

  • Dynamic (default) – Labels adapt to your zoom level, from a dot when zoomed out, to an icon, to the full label when zoomed in.

  • Full label – Always shows the markup's icon and name.

  • Icon – Shows only the markup's icon.

  • Dot – Shows only a dot.

  • No label – Hides labels completely. The markup shapes are still visible.

Geometry options

  • Dynamic (default) – Markup shapes are shown or hidden depending on your zoom level, keeping your scene responsive.

  • Always show – Markup shapes are always visible, whatever your zoom level.

⚠️ Note: Selecting Always show can slow down scenes that contain a lot of markups.

💡 Tip: For cleaner screenshots, switch labels to Dot or Icon. Your markups stay visible without taking over the view.

How Dynamic labels change with zoom level

With the Dynamic label setting, markup labels become more discreet as you zoom out, while zooming in shows you full detail. There are three levels of detail:

  1. Dot – Minimal representation at a far zoom level.

  2. Icon only – Displays the markup's icon without text.

  3. Full markup label – Shows both the icon and the markup's name at closer zoom levels.
