The Scene Manager, located on the lefthand side of any workspace is used to manage all visibility settings.

How to turn layers on/off

Layers can be turned on/off individually or at group-level. Simply click on the relevant eye-icon.

How to adjust layer opacity

The opacity/transparency level of 3D pointclouds and all 2D layers can be altered,

However, this functionality is not available for other 3D layers (e.g. CAD models).

  1. In the Scene Manager navigate to the layer who's opacity you want to adjust. Click on the three-dot menu that appears on hover:

  2. Select "Set opacity" from the drop down menu and use the slider to adjust the value:

Using the grid plane in 3D

The infinite 2D grid in the 3D environment can be used to visually "ground" a project if you have multiple data sets or it can be useful for "quickly eyeballing" distances.

  1. Click on the three-dot menu in the Scene Manager header.

  2. Select "Grid plane" in the drop down menu.

  3. Use the toggle button to turn the grid on/off.

  4. Adjust the elevation by of the grid by using the arrows or by typing in a value*.

Tip: to quickly determine the elevation of a particular location, place a point markup at the point of interest and read off its z-coordinate.

*if you have chosen to display your units and measurements in the imperial system, the elevation of the 2D data plane will still appear in metres. This is because the underlying CRS of all projects are in the metric system.

Understanding distances

When the grid is turned on, the length of the grid square sides is shown in the right-hand corner.
